Cradle of JOY Celebrates its 10th Year Anniversary

Last February 24, 2008, Cradle of JOY celebrated its 10th year foundation day which aptly began with the Holy Mass to give thanks to the Lord for having blessed the school community of families, faculty and staff through the past decade. Special guests of honor graced the occasion, particularly persons who were responsible for giving birth to the school. Present were Mr. Vic Gutierrez, former Senior Head Coordinator of the Ang Ligaya ng Pangonoon Community (LNP) who staunchly supported COJ as initially a Preschool Project of the LNP; Mrs. Agnes Gutierrez, member of the first Board of Trustees and volunteer accountant of the school in its initial years; Raissa Bayani, one of the founding teachers of the school; and Bambi Lazaro, a member of the team who helped administratively set up the school. COJ took this opportunity to show gratitude to these special people by presenting them with COJ mementos. The school administration honored as well all the teachers and staff who have been with the school for five years or more with COJ souvenirs and gift certificate awards.

After recognizing those behind COJ's success and its beginnings, the families then gathered to spend the rest of the day having fun and games. The school community divided into teams with the white team as "Dugong", the blue team as "Agila", the yellow team as "Pawikan" and the red team as "Tamaraw". There were father-son, mother-daughter playoffs as well as relays and other team sports. At the end of the competition, the "Dugong" white team bested them all.

Part of the celebration were food booths providing cooked fare for the hungry and an art exhibit providing an aesthetic feast for the eyes. To add to everyone's excitement, door prizes and raffle prizes were also given away. Lucky winners went home with prizes such as riders, coffeemaker, bags, wine, electric fans, rice cooker, USB, Nintendo Double Screen games, Portable Play Stations and the first prize, an ASUS Laptop computer.

Tired but happy, everyone went home rejoicing that it had been a day worth celebrating Cradle of JOY's birthday and the ten years of shaping young hearts and minds for Jesus as a school community.
